Submission Guidelines

The journal accepts:

Research Articles: Articles are situated within the existing body of research on security and development in Africa; use an explicit theoretical framework; make use of qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods of data collection and analysis; and reflect on both the academic as well as policy-oriented relevance of the results. articles are appropriate.

Field Notes: Field notes critically present and discuss innovative approaches, programmes and initiatives to advance security and development in Africa.

  • Abstract: max. 200 words
  • Word count
    • Article: 8000, including references
    • Field notes: 3000, including references
  • Reference style: APA, 7th edition
  • MS Word format, tables and figures included in the text

The Peer Review Process

  • Double blind peer review: Anonymized submission, two peer reviews needed to inform acceptance or rejection decision
  • Max. duration of peer review: 4 weeks
  • Author(s) informed about decision: max. 5 weeks
  • Resubmission period: 12 weeks (2 months to revise & resubmit)
